Stuffed Cabbage Roll Recipe Straight from the 70's
What you will need
12 Cabbage Leaves
1 LB hamburger
1/2 cup of Uncooked instant rice
1 medium onion chopped
1 - 4 oz can of mushroom stems and pieces
1 tsp salt
1/8 TSP pepper
1/8 TSP garlic salt
1 - 15 oz can of tomato sauce
1 TSP sugar
1/2 TSP lemon juice
1 TBS corn starch
1 TBS water
How to do it
Cover Cabbage leaves with boiling water
cover and let stand till leaves are limp
about 10 minutes
remove leaves and drain (SAVE WATER)
mix HB, rice, onion, mushroom with liquid, salt, pepper,
garlic salt, and 1/2 of the tomato sauce
place 1/3 cup of HB mixture at stem end
of each leaf and roll leaf around hamburger mixture
tucking in sides
place cabbage rolls seam side down
in a un-greased baking sheet

mix remaining tomato sauce , sugar, and lemon juice
and pour over cabbage rolls
cover and cook on 350 for 45 minutes
mix cornstarch and 1 TBSP of water in sauce pan
stir in liquid from cabbage rolls
heat to boiling
stir continually
boil and stir one minute
Serve sauce with cabbage rolls
